Introduction

e-homework is designed to help young children with their education. It allows teachers to set tests for their pupils. The pupils can then take tests at home on their computer.

Full Details

With internet use growing so rapidly, almost exponentially, and many young people having internet access at home, e-homework has been developed.

e-homework allows the IT admin at a school to create user accounts for teachers in the school. The teachers then log on and set up class/group lists of pupils that they teach. Usernames are created for the pupils with default passwords that pupils can later change. Once this has been done, these teachers then create their own homework tests for these pupils to do. The tests can take one of three forms - single answer, multiple answer or essay style worksheet;
» Single Choice — this test allows for only one correct answer. When creating the test, the teacher will be asked to enter the question and the one correct answer. The question will show on the test and the correct answer will be used by e-homework to automatically mark the test. It will also show to the pupil once they have taken the test and they choose to view what they got right and what they got wrong.
» Multiple Choice — this test allows for pupils to choose one correct answer from a possible four. When creating the test, the teacher will be asked to enter the question and four possible answers. The teacher will also be asked to select which answer is correct. The question and four possible answers will show on the test and the correct answer will be used by e-homework to automatically mark the test. It will also show to the pupil once they have taken the test and they choose to view what they got right and what they got wrong.
» Worksheet — this type of test has no set answer. When creating the test, the teacher will be asked to enter the questions and a word limit. The teacher will also be asked to enter a maximum number of marks that can be achieved on the worksheet. Worksheets have to be marked by the teacher, using e-homework.

The tests are made up of questions created by the teacher. This means that the test can be based on anything that the teacher chooses - numeracy, literacy, science... anything!

As soon as tests have been created by the teacher, the pupils that the tests have been set for, can log on with their special username and password, view tests available and then take them by typing their answers into the relevant boxes. If the test type is markable (i.e. it is single choice or multiple choice), the test is automatically marked by the server and a result returned on the pupil's screen. The teacher can then view this mark straight away in their user account.
